Effective Research
Title of Activity: Exploring the benefits of Nutrition
Reference:
National Dairy Council. (2010). Explore the World of Nutrition with Nutrition Explorations. Retrieved October 8, 2010, from http://www.nutritionexplorations.org/kids/main.asp
Grade: 3
Subject: Health
Brief Description of Activity:
Students will go to this website during their computer time. First they will go to the Nutrition tab and click on the Tour the Food Groups link. I will ask them to click on each food group and read about it. After that they will go to the Activity tab where they are free to do which ever activities they like. The activities are a great way of formal assessment while still being fun.

Students will make responsible and informed choices to maintain health and to promote safety
for self and others.
Specific Learner Outcomes:
Students will apply guidelines from Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating to individual nutritional circumstances; e.g., active children eat/drink more

Effective Presentations
My presentation:
http://www.slideshare.net/ReannaFoster/what-is-effective-technology-integration-for-21st-century-learners-5272186
My presentation follows the following criteria for an effective presentation:
1. Keep it simple, have short words or phrases
2. 3 or less lines of text per slide
3. Presenter needs to know the topic well, shouldn't need a lot of information of slides as they will be saying it in their presentation.
4. Keep the format the same through out,
5. Presentation must relate to the audience you are presenting to
I kept my presentation very simple. I did not put many words in it as I would say most of the information in my presentation. I kept the format the same the whole way through so that viewers wouldn't get distracted by it. I believe the presentation relates to the audience as the audience would likely be my peers in this class.

Blogging in Education
I have only ever blogged once before in my life. I use to have to write blogs once in a while for my Biology 30 class. I remember it not being a very popular thing to do back then but the teacher I had was freshly out of university and told us she wanted to experiment with it. Every day after class, one of us would be responsible for writing a summary of the class. We had the opportunity to say what we liked and what we didn’t like about the class and ask any questions that we had. It was really neat because then the rest of the students could comment on the blog and discussions would form.
Personally I think that I will get my students to do blogging in the future. After reading a few articles I see how it can be beneficial in all subject areas, including math. It’s a great way to get students involved in discussion and it’s a way to get them looking at problems in a different way. Nowadays students are very use to computers and the internet so I think that blogging is a means that they could easily become comfortable with if they aren’t already.
